CalcRaven makes free online calculators that show their working. Every answer comes with the formula, the steps and a plain-English explanation, so you can trust the number and understand where it came from.
Why we built it
Most online calculators give you a number and nothing else. That’s fine until you need to check it, explain it to someone or learn how it works. CalcRaven is built around a simple idea: an answer you can follow is an answer you can trust.

Why a raven?
Ravens are among the smartest birds on Earth. They solve multi-step puzzles, plan ahead and use tools. In Norse mythology, the god Odin kept two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, whose names are usually translated as “thought” and “memory.” A clever bird that works things out step by step felt like the right name for calculators that do the same.
How our calculators are made
Each calculator uses standard, published formulas, is checked against worked examples and is tested on phones and computers, in light and dark modes and with keyboard and screen reader users in mind. Read our methodology, editorial standards and accessibility statement for the details.
